Susan G. Tataryn has been an advisor for almost 20 years to various businesses from small independents to large enterprises, including those in the construction, financial, health care, technology and life science sectors while also working with artists, designers and others in the fashion, entertainment and hospitality industries.

Susan is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan where she obtained Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws degrees. She obtained the Chartered Accountant (CA) designation in 1990. She was called to the Saskatchewan bar in 1993 and the Ontario bar in 2000.

Her accounting and tax background, including her experience as a clerk to various judges of the Tax Court of Canada, and as tax litigation counsel with the federal Department of Justice enables her to provide unique perspective in business transactions, as well as in litigation. She continues to appear before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Tax Court of Canada, the Federal Court - Trial Division and the Federal Court of Appeal on income tax and GST issues.

Susan has written a number of tax articles and has taught accounting at the University of Saskatchewan and tax at the Law Society of Upper Canada Bar Admission Course. She is a frequent speaker to accountants on current tax law issues.

She co-founded a Capital Pool Company traded on the Toronto Venture Stock Exchange which was bought by Hamilton Thorne, as well as a company providing legal support solutions to sole practitioners and small law firms.

She currently is the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Youth Services Bureau, where she has served for almost 10 years. She previously sat on the Board of Directors of Prevent Cancer Now, the Hills of Erin Cancer Prevention Foundation and Big Brothers and Big Sisters Ottawa.

Asha Bradford, BSocSc, JD

Asha BradfordAsha Bradford joined Tataryn Law during her articling year in 2019. After being called to the bar, in June of 2019, she remained with the firm.

Asha attended the University of Ottawa from 2006 to 2010, where she received a Bachelor of Social Science (honours) with a major in Criminology and a minor in psychology. In 2015, she returned to the University to complete her Juris Doctor.

Between 2011 and 2015 Asha taught business English in Tokyo, where she lived and worked one block from the Imperial Palace. She has always been a borne advocate; during her time in Tokyo she founded, organized, and then served as president of her workplace's union local for two terms.

Asha currently practices in the area of tax, trusts, and wills and estates, although she has previous experience in the area of intellectual property.
She has appeared before the Tax Court of Canada.
Asha has co-counselled on the leading Canadian house-flipping case, in Hansen v. The Queen 2020 TCC 102 (https://canlii.ca/t/j9mz0) and the related cost award decision Hansen v. The Queen 2021 TCC 39 (https://canlii.ca/t/jgjwn)
